Three ENTER members have been cooperating on an
European project “Academy for Sustainable Future Educators”
(EduSTA) since 2022. The project EduSTA belongs to the
programme Erasmus+, centralised key activity Partnerships of
Excellence (Teacher Academies).

Main goal is to design open digital badge-driven learning pathways for validating teachers’ sustainability competences supported by multimodal learning modules. The aim is to achieve close cooperation with trainingvocational schools to actively engage in-service teachers. The project consortium is led by the Tampere University of Applied Sciences, the Czech University of Life Sciences Prague is in charge of dissemination and evaluation of the project activities and the Aeres University of Applied Sciences took a role of an external evaluator.

The EduSTA started by mapping the contextual possibilities and
restrictions for transformative learning on sustainability and by
operationalising skills. The development of competence-based
learning modules and open digital badge-driven pathways
followed hand in hand and will be realised as learning modules
in the partner universities.

The EduSTA will be impactful for pre- and in-service teachers at
institutional and policy-making levels. A diverse range of
educational concepts on teachers’ sustainability competences
and open digital badge-driven pathways will support the
European dimension and facilitate the recognition of prior
learning as micro-credentials (open badges).
Moreover, the EduSTA project will equip policy makers with up-
to-date knowledge and evidence on the transformative learning
to develop operationalised competences, and on the use of
open digital badges in the context of sustainability
competences.
